Samsung’s Galaxy smartphone family just got a little bit bigger with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy R. Let’s take a quick hands-on look at this new Tegra 2-powered super phone.

Samsung has outfitted the Galaxy R with a 4.19-inch Super Clear LCD display (at 800×480 resolution), the latest version of Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” OS and, an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor. That means the Galaxy R also sports a GeForce GPU that handles HD video recording and playback and crunches out console-quality Android games.

With Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” OS on deck, the Galaxy R takes advantage of all the latest Android features right out of the box. That means you get access to Google Music beta, the new Android Market, snazzy 3D effects in Google Maps, and the subtle-yet-significant text selection tool (seriously, it makes a huge difference when fixing typos).

And, when you want to get your game on, the Tegra Zone app serves up a collection of Android games that NVIDIA has helped optimize for the Tegra 2 chip.

Here is a press release related to the Samsung Galaxy R  Android powered with Tegra 2 :-
