A new lineup of AMD based motherboards supporting the 990FX/990X/970 chipsets and AM3+ CPUs was announced by ASUS recently (31st May 2011), making ASUS the very first company to provide fully compatible AM3+ motherboards in the market.

The models of the ASUS New AMD 9 Series Motherboards are the M5A99/97 Series, the TUF SABERTOOTH 990FX and the ROG Crosshair V Formula. Featuring the “best power management technology” as stated by worldwide media, the M5A99/97 Series uses ASUS exclusive Dual Intelligent Processors (DIP), comprised of the TurboV Processor Unit (TPU) and Energy Processor Unit (EPU).
UEFI Bios is also featured by premium models motherboards, as is the second generation of DIP that contains DIGI+ VRM (Digital power design), new for AMD based boards. These ASUS New AMD 9 Series Motherboards are the first on the AMD chipset based platform to support both multi-GPU technologies AMD CrossFireX™ and NVIDIA® SLI™.

The ASUS M5A99/97 Series motherboards also provide unrivaled compatibility with new AMD AM3+ socket CPUs, while retaining backwards compatibility with the previous generation AM3 CPU.

Equipped with DIP2, which features DIGI+ VRM power delivery technology in addition to the TPU and EPU which allows a user to precisely adjust and control power settings digitally for precise power control and flexible tuning of their system, the M5A99/97 core series perfectly serves the AM3+ CPU specification’s power demand.

With the digital control differing from analog controls by removing digital-to-analog conversion lag, overclocking capabilities are greatly increased, resulting in precise power flow adjustment and management as well as easy and flexible tuning, including extra DRAM power control for the AMD platform.

Being the most precise power delivery available, it provides the best-in-class in power efficiency, performance and stability, in addition to helping to maximize the overall overclocking potential.

The M5A99/97 Series motherboards also include the intuitive UEFI BIOS menu interface, which allows a user to control and adjust their BIOS settings through the use of a mouse-enabled interface for more user-friendly navigation. The built-in EZ Mode option also provides a drag-and-drop boot priority option, for easier management of boot devices.

The SABERTOOTH 990FX, another among ASUS New AMD 9 Series Motherboards, is the newest addition to the TUF Series motherboards, and is known to be the first AMD-based system in the TUF Series of motherboards.

Acknowledged for their unmatched quality and reliability in extreme conditions, the SABERTOOTH 990FX features the use of CeraM!X, an exclusive aerospace-grade cooling material with a 50% larger cooling area that effectively drive heat away from vital system components.

ASUS’ Thermal Radar technology, which consists of ten sensors located on various crucial components, gives users the ability to monitor each one individually and automatically adjusts fan speeds to guarantee the system maintains a level of high stability without overheating.

TUF motherboards are also made from TUF components, which are comprised of military-certified alloy chokes, solid state capacitors and MOSFETs built to withstand the most extreme usage conditions possible for greater system stability and longevity. A TUF motherboard built with high-end components ensures quality and tested server-grade reliability and are certified TUF only after a series of extreme stress tests including maximum temperature and humidity tolerance, so users get nothing but the best and most reliable motherboard on the market.
