Microsoft Office 365 launch on June 28
This announcement was quite a surprise as Microsoft only said that they would share some news about the product. However, the date was confirmed by other Microsoft execs, such as Jon Roskill, corporate vice president of Worldwide Partner Group.
As announced in October last year, Microsoft Office 365 is designed to provide customers a cloud-based alternative to its traditional desktop and server products. Microsoft Office 365 features Microsoft's Office Web Apps, together with hosted versions of Exchange and SharePoint along with Lync, which kicks in the online communication and collaboration piece.
Microsoft Office 365 was available as a beta version since April, and on June 28, Microsoft Office 365 will be available as two basic versions. The entry-level Office 365 for Professionals and Small Businesses will include Office Web Apps, Exchange, SharePoint, and Lync online, along with an external Web site and cost $6 per user per month. The larger-scale Office 365 for Enterprises which contains additional features, such as instant messaging, online meetings, and video conferencing, and will be available in four variations ranging in price from $10 to $27 per user per month.
Additionally, it seems that Microsoft will also provide an education version of Office 365 aimed toward school faculty, staff, and students.
This is Microsoft`s latest response to Google concerning the cloud computing. Google provides us with the Google Apps product, while Microsoft had the Business Productivity Online Suite before. And now, they will provide the Microsoft Office 365 for cloud computing.
