Dell World 2011 - Coming to Austin in October
Announced at the Dell blog by Lionel Menchaca, the chief blogger there, the Dell World 2011 will be taking place in Austin in October this year. There, the CEOs and presidents of the various computer and technology companies will be present and from whom the attendees will hear from.

Here is the post published on the 9th August 2011 :

In October, Dell is inviting technology leaders to the first ever event. Dell World 2011, taking place October 12-14, 2011 at the Austin Convention Center. The purpose of Dell World is to bring together IT visionaries, leaders and experts from around the world and across industries to learn how to streamline investments that uncover efficiencies and ultimately drive innovation. You be hearing more about Dell World on this blog and elsewhere in the weeks leading up to the event.

I asked the folks who are working to on pulling Dell World together for some insight into what this is all about. Here's what they shared:

Over the past 50 years, the technology industry has revolutionized the way we work and live. Every 10-15 years, the industry has ushered in a new era that has fundamentally changed the competitive landscape and how we interact with technology. Today, we are at an inflection point that is being driven by a convergence of macroeconomic, business and technology trends that we call the Virtual Era.

This new era brings its own set of challenges for CIOs. The workforce is no longer confined to the office. Data growth is increasing exponentially. Compliance with new regulations continues to drive storage demand as filing that kind of data a crucial necessity. In addition, the volatile and competitive marketplace is demanding that organizations have technology that is both agile and scalable to evolve as they do. CIOs are no longer solely focused on keeping the technology up and running. Now, CIOs are being forced to look at how technology can help their organizations become more efficient to free up some resources so they can reinvest in innovation.

The goal of Dell World is to help our customers overcome these challenges and create a knowledge-sharing environment that will lead to innovative business solutions. The event will showcase technology experiences in real-world environments. Key topics will include: safely embracing consumerization, harnessing social networking, breaking through virtualization ceilings and efficiently coping with the ongoing data deluge.

Presenting on the topic of “Unlocking Opportunity through Innovation,” Chairman and CEO Michael Dell will deliver the opening keynote offering his perspective on the changing face of IT and its future impact on global economic growth, competitiveness and the nature of how people live, work and play.

Dell World 2011 attendees will hear from industry leaders including:
  • Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO
  • Marc Benioff, salesforce.com chairman and CEO
  • Paul Maritz, VMware CEO
  • Paul Otellini, Intel president and CEO
  • Brad Anderson, senior vice president of Dell’s Enterprise Solutions group
  • Paul Bell, president of Dell’s Public and Large Enterprise group
